Yardenit Baptismal Site is located along the Jordan River in the Galilee region of Northern Israel. We read from the Gospel of Matthew 3:13…17 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.  But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. For God’s Plan of Salvation to fully be realized, an important ‘revelation’ needed to happen. The idea that all the world, Jew and Gentile alike were to be offered the opportunity of Salvation by the grace of believing in the name of Jesus. This monumental event would ultimately change the course of 1st century evangelism and be the catalyst for the worldwide proclamation of Salvation in Jesus Christ. Any visit to Jerusalem cannot be complete without experiencing the authentic outside marketplace commonly called the ’Shuk’. This bustling street market full of vendors selling everything from A to Z is typical amidst the middle eastern culture, but this Shuk in Jerusalem stands above them all! The sights, smells, sounds, flavors, varieties, and the assortment of produce reminds us of what Adonai promised the Children of Israel from the Book of Deuteronomy. If you do happen to know your bible  you will be familiar with The Sermon on the Mount, probably the most famous of sermons, and heck yes, even public addresses of all time. Although the actual, specific site where Jesus delivered his sermon is unconfirmed, for 1600 years it has been accepted as being a small hill known as the Mount of Beatitudes (Har HaOsher in Hebrew) overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Even if the evidence is unsupported in fact, the site of the Mount of Beatitudes is entirely reasonable as Jesus was based in Capernaum just a few miles away.
