Yardenit

Yardenit Baptismal Site is located along the Jordan River in the Galilee region of Northern Israel. We read from the Gospel of Matthew 3:13…17 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.  But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.  And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Yardenit is a very popular tourist destination especially for Christian pilgrims...

Home of Simon the Tanner

For God’s Plan of Salvation to fully be realized, an important ‘revelation’ needed to happen. The idea that all the world, Jew and Gentile alike were to be offered the opportunity of Salvation by the grace of believing in the name of Jesus. This monumental event would ultimately change the course of 1st century evangelism and be the catalyst for the worldwide proclamation of Salvation in Jesus Christ. This event took place in Joppa at the home of Simon the Tanner. Please read from the Book of Acts for the fullness of this historical episode. (Act 10). We shall insert a portion here for the dream of Peter is central to this unfolding of events:   Peter’s Vision (Book of Acts: 10:9…16) 9 The next day, as the soldiers were traveling and approaching the city, Peter went up to the rooftop...

Machane Yehuda Market

Machane Yehuda Market

Any visit to Jerusalem cannot be complete without experiencing the authentic outside marketplace commonly called the ’Shuk’. This bustling street market full of vendors selling everything from A to Z is typical amidst the middle eastern culture, but this Shuk in Jerusalem stands above them all! The sights, smells, sounds, flavors, varieties, and the assortment of produce reminds us of what Adonai promised the Children of Israel from the Book of Deuteronomy. We will read from Chapter 8 verses 7-10. 7. For ADONAI your God is bringing you into a good land—a land of wadis with water, of springs and fountains flowing out in the valleys and hills, 8 a land of wheat and barley, vines, figs and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey, 9. a land where you will eat bread with no poverty,...

The Mount of Beatitudes

If you do happen to know your bible  you will be familiar with The Sermon on the Mount, probably the most famous of sermons, and heck yes, even public addresses of all time. Although the actual, specific site where Jesus delivered his sermon is unconfirmed, for 1600 years it has been accepted as being a small hill known as the Mount of Beatitudes (Har HaOsher in Hebrew) overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Even if the evidence is unsupported in fact, the site of the Mount of Beatitudes is entirely reasonable as Jesus was based in Capernaum just a few miles away. And try telling otherwise the multitudes of pilgrims and secular tourists who have been visiting this gorgeous site since the 4th century… Today the Mount of Beatitudes may be set with a church,...
